The best battle royale games throw you into the deep end when it comes to survival of the fittest. The excitement of competitive gaming is a draw for many of us, whether you like a tense final showdown or the exhilaration of beating your opponents to a load drop. In fact, there are so many fantastic battle royale games out there that it can be hard to narrow it down. In recent years, we've seen an influx of games inspired by the genre with their own version of the battle royale, from board games to puzzles to numerous spin-off shooters like Vampire Masquerade: Bloodhunt. We've rounded up a wide range of arena battle titles where only one of them can reign supreme, so read on to discover ten of the best battle royale games of the moment.

This game has tapped into the popularity of the battle royale, but with enough flavor to stand out. Its main feature is the way you move around the map, using snowboards, hang gliders and even grappling hooks to help you get from one point to another.

The first season of the game was snow themed, but each subsequent season has focused on a different type of weather and environment that you have to overcome, such as storms and even volcanic ash. The other interesting aspect of Ring of Elysium is that up to four players can ride in the rescue helicopter at the end of a match, which makes for some tense but satisfying moments during the final stages. The game is a bit rough around the edges, but there's no denying that it's a lot of fun.

* Totally Accurate Battlegrounds

Platform: PC

The following game is a silly version of the formula, and we're glad it exists. Totally Accurate Battlegrounds is a comical experience that aims to parody serious shooter games like PUBG (hence the name). Your goal, of course, is to be the last team or person standing in lobbies of up to 60 players. In this game, physics plays a major role and adds to the humor, as players are blown to bits when shot.

The graphics are crude, the weapons and objects are sublimely exaggerated and the whole concept is wonderfully chaotic. However, it's all tied up in a first-person shooter that feels expertly crafted, making the game hard to let go. While the humor and silliness are at the forefront, the gameplay never takes a backseat, which says a lot about its design.

*. Spellbreak

Plateformes : PC, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch

Few video game experiences are as exhilarating as Warzone 2. The game is highly skill dependent and not the easiest to master, especially if your goal is to come out on top. But if you can learn the ins and outs of intricate weapons, their attachments, perks, and mechanics, you'll have a great time in Warzone 2. It's a game that gives great satisfaction, especially when everything goes according to plan.

*.Fortnite

Platforms: PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, Android, iOS

Fortnite is one of the most ubiquitous and influential games of all time. It has it all, engaging in-game events, references to all facets of pop culture, frequent content drops, and fun and rewarding gameplay to master. Fortnite may put off those looking for a more mature experience, but you'll be hard pressed to find a battle royale game as balanced as this one.

Besides the actual gameplay, Fortnite is one of the prime examples of well-organized gaming events. From in-game gigs, like Ariana Grande's recent performance, to the Galactus event that attracted over 15 million concurrent players, Fortnite has established itself as a pioneer in delivering engaging content. Add to that an ever-changing map that constantly reinvents the wheel and it's easy to see why this game is so popular. Additionally, you can play as Batman, Master Chief, Kratos, and even a cute cat named Meowscles in Fortnite, earning him automatic points.

*. Apex Legends

At the top of our list is Apex Legends, a battle royale game that has been a hit since launch. It certainly borrows many ideas from its contemporaries, but it has its own strengths, such as its Legends, which all have their own stories, personalities, and gameplay mechanics that set them apart. Apex Legends takes a lot of inspiration from the Fortnite book by implementing interesting seasonal content, as well as crowd-pleasing in-game events.

But one thing Apex does to stand out from the rest is to focus on top-notch, fast-paced gameplay that's unlike anything else. Running, jumping, and using parkour to navigate the map is never boring, and frankly, it's hard to play other slower-paced battle royale games after you get used to the movement in Apex Legends. The focus on storytelling and fluidity of the game is enough to make it the best of the genre.
